FAQs

Aqua Design Pools & Spas, LLC

  • Do I need to be home during the pool build?

While your constant presence isn't necessary, there may be certain stages of the construction process that require additional appointments. We'll coordinate these with you in advance to ensure a smooth building process.
  • What services does Aqua Design Pools & Spas, LLC offer?

Our company provides a comprehensive range of services to North Georgia, including pool and spa design, new pool construction, renovation projects, ongoing maintenance, and the addition of custom pool features.
  • Does Aqua Design Pools & Spas, LLC offer financing?

We don't provide direct financing, but we do refer our clients to HFS Financial and Lyon Financial. These institutions offer a variety of flexible and affordable financing options to suit different budgets.
  • What is the difference between a concrete and a gunite pool?

The main difference lies in the mixing process. Shotcrete pools use a 4,000 psi concrete mix that's prepared at a concrete plant and delivered to the site. Gunite pools, on the other hand, involve mixing the concrete on-site during the construction process.
  • How much does an inground gunite pool cost?

At our company, inground gunite pools start at $100,000. We maintain consistent quality in our craftsmanship and materials across all pool sizes, ensuring excellent value regardless of the project's scale.
  • Do I need to have a fence around my pool?

Yes, Georgia state law mandates a fence around swimming pools, equipped with self-closing and self-latching gates. The specific height requirements can vary by jurisdiction, so we recommend checking with your local zoning office for the exact fence code applicable to your area.
  • What type of materials are used?

We utilize high-quality materials including PebbleTec, Belgard pavers, natural flagstone coping, frostproof ceramic tiles, and natural stack stone in our pool construction. Our pool equipment is fully automated, and salt systems come with cleaners. As a certified warranty station, we provide support for all the brands we work with after completion.
  • How long does it take to build a pool?

The typical timeline for our pool construction projects is approximately 12 to 14 weeks, starting from the initial excavation phase.
  • What types of pools do you build?

We build custom gunite (shotcrete) pools, often referred to as “Pebble Tec pools.” Essentially, all of our pools are fully customized to fit your backyard.
  • How much does an in-ground gunite pool cost?

At Aqua Design Pools & Spas, LLC, our pools start at approximately $100,000. We use the same level of craftsmanship and materials regardless of the size of the pool.
  • How long does pool construction usually take?

The construction timeline can vary. Our standard goal is to complete pool construction within 12–14 weeks. However, several factors, including weather conditions, project complexity, and additional features such as cabanas, intricate hardscapes, or landscaping, can impact the timeline. Please note that “Day 1” of the construction timeline typically refers to the start of pool excavation.
  • Will the final pool and outdoor living project match the 3D design?

The 3D design we provide is intended as an inspirational visual of your future pool and outdoor living space. It is not a construction drawing and should not be relied upon as an exact representation of all features, materials, or layout details. During construction, variations may occur in materials, dimensions, placement, and design elements. The final scope of work is defined by the pool invoice, which details exactly what is included and paid for and may differ from the 3D design or renderings.
  • Will work be happening on my pool project every day?

Pool construction is a multi-stage process that involves several specialized crews, each with a specific role. While we strive to schedule these crews as efficiently and consecutively as possible to keep work moving, there may be times when no work occurs on-site. These gaps may be due to scheduling logistics, inspections, weather conditions, or the availability of specialized trades. These pauses are normal in pool construction and are anticipated within the overall project timeline.
  • How much time does it usually take to obtain a permit?

Permit timelines can vary widely depending on your location and the specific characteristics of your property. Primary factors include the governing jurisdiction and any property constraints such as easements, setbacks, or zoning requirements. In some cases, permits may be approved the same day they are submitted, while more complex situations can take several months or longer. Permitting timelines are influenced by external agencies and factors beyond our control. We strongly recommend that all clients obtain an as-built survey of their property. We are happy to review the survey and advise if we identify any potential concerns related to pool installation.
  • Who is responsible for grading and drainage work around my pool?

Upon completing your pool construction, we will establish a final grade around the pool area and ensure that water is properly directed away from the pool. This typically covers an area of approximately a 10-foot radius around the pool perimeter. This grade is not sod ready. A landscaper will be responsible for achieving the final finish grade, making it sod ready, and handling related tasks such as grading, raking, and drainage.
  • Are there any undisclosed or unexpected costs not mentioned in the contract invoice?

While we strive for transparency, certain conditions may result in additional costs not included in the original contract. Soil conditions such as excessive moisture, debris, rocks, or unstable soil may require additional work and are not included in the initial contract or invoice. Tree or stump removal within the pool project area is not included in the project price and will incur an additional fee. We install the water auto-leveler system and prepare the plumbing for it; however, the final connection to a water source, typically completed by an irrigation installer or plumber, is not included in our scope of work.
  • Do i need a fence around my pool?

Yes. The State of Georgia and your local city or county require a fence around your pool. Each jurisdiction has specific requirements regarding fence height and self-closing, self-latching gates. Please check with your local zoning office for the applicable pool fence codes.
